Massoud Mansour, Head of FRWO met with Dariush Dehghan, the Governor of Larestan city- Fars province on Monday and conferred on the implementation of IWM projects.

According to FRWO's website, in this meeting, the Governor of Larestan, explaining the climatic condition of the city and the flood-prone area, asked Head of FRWO to implement and expand Integrated Watershed Management (IWM) operations in Larestan to control and reduce flood damage.

The governor of Larestan also pointed out the importance of IWM projects in flood-prone areas of Larestan and reiterated: "People and officials have witnessed the effectiveness of IWM operations in reducing flood damage, developing of the managed aquifer recharge projects, and rehabilitating qanats led to enhanced groundwater recharge and controlled floods, therefore, they request more attention to natural resources management in developing the implementation of  IWM and aquifer recharge projects".

in this meeting, considering the demands of the people and officials of Larestan city for the implementation of IWM projects, Head of FRWO decided that Larestan will be one of the national pilots of IWM in the country and IWM measures will be implemented there.
